CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
The National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU) Ltd, a prominent financial institution in the Commonwealth of Dominica, is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Formed on November 1st, 2010, NCCU represents a merger of seven (7) credit unions – the Roseau, St Paul, La Salette, St David’s, Vieille Case, Castle Bruce and South Eastern Cooperative Credit Unions. As one of the largest credit unions in the OECS, NCCU serves a membership of over 50,000 members and adheres to cooperative principles.
The CEO will report to the Board of Directors and has a critical function in shaping the organisation’s strategy, defining clear objectives and guiding the team to attain performance milestones. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organisation, including financial performance, operational efficiency, employee engagement, and member satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to achieve NCCU’s mission and goals.
- Oversee financial management and maintain the Credit Union’s financial stability and growth,
- Optimise organisational processes, resource allocation, and operational efficiency to enhance productivity and manage costs.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with members, partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the NCCU’s reputation and market presence.
- Implement and enforce risk management practices to safeguard the Credit Union’s assets and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement comprehensive business plans.
The ideal candidate will have a robust history of leadership, innovation, and a profound comprehension of finance.
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- An MBA or other advanced degree, Finance, Economics, or a related field. is preferred.
- Professional Certification in Accounting or Finance, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent would be an advantage.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a Senior Management position at a Financial Institution.
- Knowledge of domestic, regional and international financial regulations and compliance requirements related to banking and finance, such as anti-money laundering regulations.
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of microcomputers and software applications, particularly of financial and spreadsheet packages
- Knowledge and/or experience in the Credit Union Movement would be a distinct advantage.
- SKILLS AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities to engage with members, employees, and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to coach employees to manage and develop high-performance cross-functional teams.
- Proven leadership ability, preferably within the financial sector or credit unions.
- Strong financial acumen, with a comprehensive understanding of credit union operations, lending practices, and risk management.
- Experience in enhancing member satisfaction with a focus on member-centricity, innovation, and long-term strategic planning.
- Action-oriented, success-oriented, with an entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, and innovative approach to operational management.
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance within the financial industry.
- Proficiency in the preparation of analytic reports, proposals and policy formulation.
- REMUNERATION PACKAGE
The remuneration package comprising, salary and allowances is negotiable.
- EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
- Employment will be on a contractual basis of two (2) years in the first instance.
