Kimarah Reefe, Occupational Therapist and Advocate from the village of Wesley, Dominica, Earns a Doctorate from Rocky Mountain University

Kimarah Reefe is an Occupational Therapist, educator, and advocate committed to empowering children, families, and communities through meaningful compassionate care. Born and raised in the beautiful community of Wesley, Dominica, she is the daughter Clifford (Kacool) Reefe and Nurse Allina (Sylvie) Reefe. Her journey began in education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Andrews University, followed by a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC). In May of 2025 she graduated with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Rocky Mountain University, further deepening her clinical expertise and leadership acumen.

Over the past decade, Kimarah’s professional path has spanned multiple spheres of healthcare and education. From early volunteer work in psychiatric unit in Dominica and elderly care facilities to her current leadership positions, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to service and innovation. She currently serves as the Acting Director of the Occupational Therapy Department at USC, where she leads curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and program accreditation while advocating for the advancement of occupational therapy education in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2021, Kimarah founded This Ability Therapy Service, a pediatric clinic dedicated to providing holistic, evidence-based care to children with a range of developmental challenges. This venture reflects her passion for child-centered therapy and her skill in interdisciplinary collaboration. Whether supporting children on the autism spectrum, those with sensory processing disorders, or global developmental delays, she applies a blend of clinical precision and compassionate care to foster growth and independence.

Her clinical background includes extensive fieldwork in pediatric therapy, hand rehabilitation, physical dysfunction, and mental health. She is trained in Thera-pressure techniques, pediatric constraint-induced movement therapy, upper-body splinting, Kinesio taping, and more. Kimarah has authored a publication in the Journal of Occupational Therapy Education and serves on the Executive Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association, where she contributes to policy, practice, and professional development within the field. In her role as lecturer and Director at USC, Kimarah creates engaging, student-centered learning experiences across departments such as Nursing, Food and Consumer Sciences, and Occupational Therapy. Her teaching is rooted in creativity, empathy, and a drive to inspire excellence among emerging professionals.

Beyond her academic and clinical work, Kimarah is guided by a deeply held mission: to promote inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive occupational therapy, particularly in underserved communities. Every client she treats, student she mentors, and program she shapes, brings her closer to this vision. In every role—therapist, educator, leader, and advocate—Kimarah Reefe carries a steadfast belief: that all individuals, regardless of ability, deserve the opportunity to participate fully in life’s meaningful occupations.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
