I Have a Right Foundation GirlHood Leadership and Mentorship Virtual Pilot Program 2020

I Have a Right Foundation GirlHood Leadership and Mentorship Pilot Program focuses on the Health, Safety and Empowerment of adolescent girls in Dominica.

This unexpected pandemic (Coronavirus /COVID-19) has raised concerns over the protection, safety and empowerment of girls within our area of operation.  In response, this Virtual Leadership and Mentorship Pilot Program will offer weekly leadership and empowerment activities focused on providing consistent, in-depth experiences and activities designed to strengthen girls’ coping skills, reduce risk factors, increase family engagement and inspire girls to dream big.

This pilot program focuses on elevating the voices of adolescent girls to help ensure they have the opportunity, life skills and resources to advocate for their own empowerment by providing a safe space where their voices can be heard and valued.

Program Duration: July 7th to August 29th, 2020

Target Beneficiaries: 20 adolescent girls attending the North East Comprehensive School

Age Range: 12 to 17 years

We hope to create a community of strong motivated girls who would support each other in times of crisis. By building the knowledge capacity of girls in terms of their rights and the laws that exist to protect them, we will strengthen their ability to protect themselves and others as they live empowered lives.

How will girls benefit?

  • Safe Space and Healthy Relationships
  • Digital Health
  • Food Security and Climate Action
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Personal Goals and Vision
  • Sexual Reproductive Health
  • Positive Role Models
  • Being the Change
  1. Girl Voice Live Panel Discussions

Girls will have an exclusive opportunity to dialogue with Local, Regional and International Women Mentors and Professionals discussing and exploring topics such as Career Planning, Balancing Academics and Social, Literacy, Women in STEM and Self Love.

  1. Girl Talk

A safe place to discuss the challenges of being a young teenage girl.

InTheConclusion “Girl Talk” podcast series will feature live discussions with teen girls on areas relevant to their specific experiences and challenges such as peer pressure, leadership, self-identity, self-awareness, and reproductive health.

  1. Girl Packages
  • Each Girl will receive:
  • Menstrual Cycle Care Packages
  • Back Yard Gardening Starter Kits
  • Food Supplies
  • Weekly Mentorship and Support

This Pilot Program will culminate with a Full Day at Jungle Bay Resort and Spa where girls will be inducted into the Girl Hood Community of confident and wholistic girls empowered to lift others and positively shape the World they live in.

The North East Comprehensive School, RAK and Ray Foundation, Dr. Rennes Toussaint Sign of Strength Movement, Mrs. Alisha M Marcellin – School Counselor, SPR Girls Universe Trinidad, Read for Life Barbados and InTheConclusion.
