Girls In Science Rock School Projects

The St.Martin Secondary School held a mini exhibition on Thursday to display the work done by the science students. The different form levels learnt different systems in the body and were asked to make models representing the systems studied. A few young ladies went over and beyond in the presentation of their models and some of their work are pictured below.

According to school teacher, ms. Jeanette Ferreira, “This is actually the best models for the school year so far from all the science classes.

Students of fourth form Ajaya, Alandra, Jemiscia, Amanda and Melva worked on the Female Reproductive System. They said, “We worked on the female reproductive system. It had its challenges but we are proud of how it turned out. We recycled materials like styrofoam. It was fun and it helped us as girls to see what is really inside of us”.

Megan Moses of first form made a large skeleton. She said, “I worked hard and used things around the house and pipes. I used sponge, comb teeth for phalanges an empty butter bowl and the thing that goes over the motor for the fan, I used that for the skull. My brother helped me bend and connect the pipes. I am proud of my work”.

Tatiana Alphonse of form one made a smaller skeleton using cardboard, prints, slime and a ribbon. She said, “I am impressed with myself. I didn’t know I could do it”.

Reena Bellot of first form made a model of an animal cell. She said, “I used things I found around the house (tennis ball, old sock and so on). My mother helped me. I decided to try something and I ended up being proud of myself”.

Kahhilla St. Ville of third form did a model of the Digestive System. She said, “It was challenging but it worked out fine. I used paint, cardboard and paper. I worked on it alone. I enjoy doing these things. I researched pictures online and made a plan how I was going to put it together. I am proud of my work”.

Congratulations to the students for a job well done.
