Antigua News -Jayde Riviere, a young footballer with links to Dominica has signed a three-year contract with Manchester United Women’s Football Club.
The 21-year-old is a member of the Olympic Gold Medal 2020 Canadian National Women’s squad
Jayde was born to Dominican father, Tony Riviere, and a Canadian mother, Emily Lui.
She has been part of the Canadian Women’s National program since the age of 14.
“I have been fortunate to appreciate my heritage and culture through my dad. My dad is [a] proud Dominican and has made sure to pass that on to me”.
She said when she entered the Olympic Village in Japan, the first thing she did was look for the Dominican flag. She also wants to help promote the sport in the Nature Isle.
“I intend to hold some clinics for women in Dominica to help raise the profile and benefits that the sport offers to women”, she said.
Jayde is a student at the University of Michigan student but was given an early school exit in order to pursue her professional football career with Manchester United.
