Firefighters responded to a call on Bath Road in the vicinity of Convent High School about 10 Am on Tuesday 10, March. The officers worked feverishly to extinguish the blaze but the house was still consumed.

From all reports, it was an abandoned building and the blaze did not affect the adjacent houses.

Emonews spoke to an official of the Dominica Electricity Services (Domlec) who said that from his initial assessment the house did not seem to have any live electrical connections and their wires were stable and unaffected by the blaze.

Therefore there should not be any interruptions in electricity services in the capital city.Investigations are being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
