On March 8, International Women’s Day, women from around the globe gathered to celebrate and bring awarenes to the challenges and successes of women globally. International Women’s Day 2020 was celebrated under the theme, ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights’.

Women in Dominica gathered in the Kalinago Territory to celebrate International Women’s Day and to focus on the contribution of indigenous Kalinago Women to the development of Dominica.

Hon. Dr. Adis King, in addressing the gathering said that this day “provides a useful opportunity to reinforce the fact that everyone has a role to play in foregoing a more gender equal and dynamic Dominica. She explained the 2020 campaign slogan ‘Each for Equal’ means that we are part of a whole and individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets have an impact on our larger society.

According to Dr. King, “Collectively, we can each help to create a sustainable, resilient, gender equal Dominica.
