MIRIDOM Seeks Change in Law

Minority Rights Dominica (MIRIDOM) intends to go to court to have Dominica’s Sodomy Laws changed. While speaking on Kairi FM’s Hot Topics on Wednesday, Phillip said that the laws are contrary to human rights.

The suit will be supported by the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, an international human rights organization and the University of Toronto’s International Human Rights Program.

The maximum penalty for buggery in Dominica is ten years imprisonment and the possibility of forced psychiatric confinement.
