The Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy successfully completed the 50th cohort of its BASIC FISHERMANS TRAINING COURSE at the newly renovated Roseau Fisheries Complex for twenty-five fishers.
Course work included an overview of the local fishing sector, fishing gear and technology, the blue economy, the business of fishing, engine maintenance and data management.
To date the FD has trained over 1200 fishers who have successfully completed the week long fundamental skill building exercise as per its three-tiered mandate
1 Research and Development, 2. Education and Awareness and 3. Training and Extension Staff of the Fisheries Division facilitated the session with collaboration from the Dominica Social Security, Environmental Health and the Banking Sector.
