All new and continuing students enrolling at Lead Institute for the new 2021-2022 academic year will be awarded an Economic Recovery Scholarship.
The Economic Recovery Scholarship (ERS) is a need-based scholarship which provides a tuition waiver of a maximum of EC$800.00 per year to qualifying students. It is intended to help students pay for college in light of the economic hardships caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
To qualify for the ERS waivers, students must register and enroll for the new semester anytime between August 01 to August 15, 2021. Students who register after the August 15 deadline, will be required to pay regular tuition rates.
David Vital, Director of Lead Institute, says the ERS will bring much needed relief to families.
“COVID – 19 has created serious challenges for many college students and their families across the nation. Lead Institute is working to ease the financial stress that is affecting our students as a result of the pandemic by offering some economic relief in the form of these tuition waivers”, he said.
Continuing students, as well as students who have already registered and enrolled, will also benefit from the ERS scholarship, as it will have retroactive effect.
The $800.00 scholarship will make tuition at Lead Institute the lowest on island for an Associate Degree. To retain the scholarship in year two, students will have to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Meanwhile, considering the current spike in coronavirus infections on island, Lead Institute has moved its registration of new students online on its Facebook page @ www.facebook.com/LEADInstituteDominica
