After what appears to be an extended hiatus, the Giraudel/Eggleston Flower Show and Market Fair is budding once again. According to one of the founding members Elizabeth Alfred, the show began in the early 70s. The intent of the show is to display the myriad of flowers grown in the twin communities of Giraudel and Eggleston. She declared that the show had lost its momentum due to the frequency of storms as well as the unavailability of an appropriate venue to host the event.
According to the spokesperson for the committee, Mr. Mervin Alexander, a portion of land has been purchased which will be a permanent venue to host the show. Not only so, but the committee envisions that this portion of land will be converted into to a botanic center where locals and visitors alike can indulge in the invigorating ambience.
It is expected that the show be held in November 2022 during the independence celebration and not at its usual time- May/June. However, patrons can expect a prelude to the show from May 27-29, 2022, at venue in Giraudel under the theme ‘Enchanting Garden’.
The launching will give patrons a chance to view the venue, the opportunity to purchase flowers and vegetables and to enjoy the tranquility that the environment offers as they indulge in a tea party. The event is expected to be fun one for the whole family.
More details on show to be held in November will be given in a subsequent newscast.
