SALISBURY PARLIMENTARY REPRESENTATIVE ADDRESSES COUNCILORS ON THE SWEARING-IN CEREMONY OF THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SALISUBRY VILLAGE COUNCIL

The Salisbury Village Council has been re-established after a hiatus of 59 years.  Elections were held on the March 9th, 2022 and Russel Felix, Vincent Langlais, Selma Louis, Ned Toussaint and Sylvia Vidal were elected to serve as councilors. Nominated to serve on the council are Dirk Frederick, Franklyn Georges and Ridge Vidal. Mr. Russel Felix is the chairperson.

In his address at the ceremony the Parliamentary Representative of the Salisbury constituency, Honorable Hector John, applauded the village for their turn out at the polls. He declared that this was testament that the villagers are in support of the idea of a council. He further went on to congratulate the eight councilors but admonished them that their task of building the community begins immediately.

“Use this opportunity to work with other groups and other individuals to build capacity. Use this opportunity to forge new linkages with local, regional and international organizations towards the development of Salisbury,” he urged.

He reminded the councilors that the primary focus must always be the advancement of Salisbury.

He further stated, “I call on every councilor to give back selflessly, genuinely and positively to the community because the people of Salisbury expect nothing less.”

John assures them that he pledges his support in giving whatever assistance is needed. He urged them to not dwell on the past but to find ways that they can enhance the future.
