Troy Johnrose affectionately known as “Troyty” from the community of Mahaut, has set in motion his love for music with his new single ‘Lord forgive me’ featuring Deno, another rising Dominican artist. Johnrose migrated to Houston, Texas in 2007 and has been there ever since.
Upon interview with Emonews, he noted, “I always had the passion for music especially R & B and Rap. Dating back to 2020, I started writing but never officially recorded any songs.” Moreover, he would aid other artists with their lyrical content but never felt the urge to hear his voice on a single.
However, there was a shift of mindset when it came to his new song, released February 18th 2022. He explained that he was inspired by seeing Deno in the studio. “I went to the studio with Deno and was simply chilling. When he started his verse it inspired me to write and actually record,” he said. Johnrose explained that going to the studio was usually just a hobby. However, this time he decided to take this serious and give it a shot.
Remarkably, he expressed that he is seeking to send out different messages through his music. “I wanted the song to be personal and different, something from within. I wanted to speak what I go through in the hope that some people could relate as soon as they hear the song,” he voiced.
Furthermore, it is usually seen that local music seeks to target more of the local population, with topics centered on things happening on island. However, Jno Rose pointed out that he is seeking to appeal to a global market as oppose to the Dominican population solely. He added, “My goal is to reach everybody no matter where they come from.”
To note, Jno Rose has articulated his willingness to contribute to Dominica’s music industry. “I would like to influence others to change something. Let’s try something new. If we do this we could stand out within the industry,” he stated.
Further, Jno Rose took the opportunity to thank his manager Stafford Hyacinth and his friend Deno, for making this collaboration a fulfilling experience. He mentioned that he intends to release new music soon, with the same vision of being different and global.
