We announce the death of Jemima Charles née King (Aka Ma Mills.) of Layou. She died on February 2nd, 2023. She was 89 years old.
She was predeceased by her husband the late Julius Charles. Her daughter Christiana Williams (Alexander Williams-deceased). Deceased relatives: Three sisters: Nausica Edmond, Hulda Jules and Ruth Laudat. Three brothers: Austin , Herskel and John J. King.
She lives to mourn two sisters Sarah King in Florida and Hanah Prosper St. Croix.
Ten children and their spouses; Esther Jno Charles (Hubert Jno Charles), Josiah Mills, Enos Mills, Rebecca Lescot (Eric Lescot), Florence Aaron (Pastor Joseph Aaron), Cleville Mills (Dorcas Mills), Amos Mills (Ireene Mills), Francess Mills (Fabian Dominique), Joshua Mills (Shirley Mills) and Jude Charles.
33 grandchildren including Hayden Mills of Tarreau, Al Mills of Arliebev Bakery , Tessa Charles of DOWASCO, Kirn and Chad Mills Riviere, Frances and Fitz-Robert Aaron, Daren Mills of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, Dinia Mills Laurent in the UK, Nurse Emma Jack district nurse at the St Joseph Health Center and Nurse Sherlyn Mills emergency nurse in Bermuda.
38 great grandchildren including Hannah and Arliana Mills, Felesha & Eron Jack.
Seven brothers in law including Hamlet Charles of Woodfordhill.
Five Stepchildren Lazare, Marilyn, Desrie, Judith and Lazarus Charles.
Nieces including Martha Edwards, and Honey Edmund in Dominica, Berle Fulmore and Marjorie Moon in Florida and Julie-Ann Laudat in Antigua.
Nephews including Arthur Mc Dowel in Dominica, Amos, Alex and Edson King in St Croix and Belden King in St. Thomas.
She will be remembered by the SDA communities in Layou and St. Joseph, The members of the CUM church in Layou, The Manager and workers of the Gentle Rest funeral home, the communities of Layou, St. Joseph and other communities in the Western District. A host of relatives and friends including Imona Layne and John Charles of Layou. Honourable Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Honourable Darron Lloyd and Ambassador Martin Charles.
The funeral of the late Jemima Charles nèe King Aka Ma Mills of Layou will take place on Sunday 12 th February 2023 at the St. Joseph Seventh-day Adventist Church. Viewing and tributes at 1:30 pm-2:30 pm. The service will begin at 2:30 pm sharp.
Internment Layou Christian Union Church Cemetery.
