Habitat for Humanity and Lutheran World Relief held the first ever construction job fair on Wednesday 5, February at the Public Service Training Union.
There were over 200 persons involved in the construction sector including employers and persons in need of employment. There were presentations made by the Dominica State College (DSC), Youth Development Division and the Housing Recovery Project.
Program Manager of Habitat for Humanity International, Mario Roa, said that the job fair aims to connect persons in the construction sector and also to train persons in various techniques so as to make better decisions in construction especially as it relates to mitigating against the effects of possible disasters.
The fair was held under the theme ‘Bridging the gap between the supply and demand of labour.
