Bishop Admonishes Citizens to Vote as Free Persons and not Sell Their Vote

The Feast of Christ the King was celebrated on Sunday at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau.

Catholics from all across the island formed a motorcade into the capital city then marched from the Bayfront to the stadium.

Bishop Gabriel Malzaire in his homily reiterated aspects of a letter he wrote some days ago. He said, ” I wish to remind you of your responsibility… to recognize that every adult citizen has the privilege to vote according to his or her conscience and the duty therefore not to neglect the duty to exercise this precious right; make an effort to know the party, the objectives aims in order to make a responsible choice; Vote as free persons not to debase yourselves by selling your votes for money or any personal favors; oppose and reject any candidate who use bribery, intimidation or threats of violence to win votes; reject any invitation to join in the harassment of those whose political views are different from ours.”

Bishop Malzaire also called on the clergy to remain Bipartisan in the election season and engage in daily fasting and prayer.
