A total of Forty-Eight (48) students entered for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and the Dominica Association of Music Educators (DAME) practical exams May 30, 2019, and June 4, 2019, at the UWI Open Campus. Students were drawn from the Henckel Muriel Music Workshop, Valena Letang, Christian Musical Class, MarvinMarie School of Music, Norman Jean Jacque studio and Robert James.
Seventeen (17) students took the ABRSM exams: 5 received Distinctions, while thirty-one (31) students took the DAME local exams; 20 received Distinctions. Ethan Charles a Grade 5 Guitar student from Christian Musical Class received the highest score in the ABRSM exam.
DAME Top students are Nigel Lawrence a Grade 1 Piano student from Mrs. Letang studio and Therese Leblanc Grade 1 Recorder student of Henckel Muriel Music Workshop.
A High Scorers Concert will be held on Saturday 15, June 6.30p.m. UWI Open Campus. Students who obtained distinction pieces will be performing. Prizes will also be awarded to students who obtained the highest scores in the various disciplines. Students who have demonstrated discipline, diligence, and commitment from the various studios will also be recognized.
Although the concert is open to the public free of charge, DAME would appreciate donations to assist in its ongoing music education programme.
