YOUTH DEVELOPMENT DIVISION LAUNCHES NATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING SURVEY TO EMPOWER DOMINICA’S YOUTH

The Youth Development Division has officially launched a national Skills Training Needs Survey aimed at gathering feedback from young people across the island to shape the future of youth development programming in Dominica.

The Division is calling on youth, ages 14 and up, to participate in the brief online survey and identify the skill areas they are most interested in developing. The information collected will directly influence the types of training and workshops offered in 2025 and beyond, ensuring they are aligned with the needs of the labor market and the aspirations of Dominican youth.

“We want to hear from our youth — their interests, their dreams, and the skills they want to gain,” said Ms Meritta Hyacinth, Chief Youth Development Officer (Ag.). “This is a golden opportunity for young people to guide the programs that will prepare them for the real world whether that’s employment, entrepreneurship, or further education.”

The training areas range from technology, construction, wellness, and entrepreneurship to emerging fields like artificial intelligence, drone operations, digital marketing, aviation and maritime services. Special attention is also being given to upcoming opportunities in light of Dominica’s international airport project and training options will reflect the evolving economic landscape.

Youth are encouraged to complete the form by April 4th 2025 by visiting: https://forms.gle/eTyrkiBBepmu4rn16

The Division is also working with district youth officers and community groups to reach as many young people as possible.
