SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ (13 Oct 2024) – The anticipation for the 2025 Bel Matador Dominik competition reached new heights as five of the talented young contestants were officially introduced to an enthusiastic audience. The event, showcasing Dominican cultural heritage through a spectacular cultural showcase and dance party, took place recently at the Italian American Club in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
Over 220 attendees cheered and encouraged the following contestants, who will be competing in next year’s Bel Matador Dominik contest, organised by ADNExUS, the Association of Dominicans in the Northeast USA:
– Camille Sergenton, 17, representing Marigot
– Michelle Williams, 21, representing Giraudel
– Vernelle Williams, 16, representing Delices
– Talia Coryat, 23, representing Soufriere and St Joseph
– Liana Rose David, 14, representing Wesley
These remarkable young women embody the spirit and cultural richness of their respective communities. As they prepare for the main event in September 2025, they will serve as cultural ambassadors, promoting the vibrant heritage of Dominica.

The 2025 Bel Matador Dominik competition promises to be a highlight of the cultural calendar, showcasing the talents, intelligence, and grace of young Dominican women. The event not only celebrates individual achievements but also strengthens community ties and promotes cultural exchange.
The cultural showcase and dance party featured spectacular presentations of Dominican folk heritage, including dazzling displays by the young dancers from Know Our Culture, infectious Jing Ping and Colihaut Boyz Lapo Kabwitt performances. DJ Bolo and special guest Leroy “Wadix” Charles brought a Dominica carnival atmosphere to climax the event with a brilliant mix of local and regional music that drove virtually everyone to the dance floor.
