The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is conducting investigations into an armed robbery which occurred on Friday 11, March 2022 at 4:30 PM on the Western Hillsborough bridge in Layou.
Information received indicated that two employees of the Tranquility Beach Hotel were travelling on dump truck registration number TP773, owned by the Tranquility Beach Hotel, when they were upheld by two mask men armed with a shotgun. The driver was held at gunpoint and one of the men shot him to the face and left with an unspecific amount of cash.
The armed robbers fled the scene on a black Honda HRV vehicle. The driver sustained gunshot wounds to his right cheek, right eye and neck. He was medically examined at the St. Joseph Health Center and was subsequently referred to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital for further medical attention. His injuries are not life threatening.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police force is appealing to anyone with information about this crime to call police Head Quarters at 611-5100/611-5158; the St. Joseph Police Station at 611-4852/611-4855/611-4856 and crime stoppers at 1-800-8477. This is according to Superintendent of Police, Acting, Leanna Edwards in charge of the southern division.
