Thea Lafond, Dominica’s national triple jump record holder has made history, being the first Dominican to win a Diamond League event after jumping 14.46m at the Rabat Diamond League. Shanieka Ricketts of Jamaica jumped 14.43m to obtain silver while Neja Filipic of Slovenia jumped 14.42m to secure bronze.
Last year, Lafond advanced to the women’s triple jump finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. More recently, she secured 3rd place at the 2022 Doha Diamond League and secured her outdoor season’s best distance.
