The Rotary Club of Dominica Welcomes a New Executive Team for 2024-2025

Roseau, Dominica, July 12, 2024 – The Rotary Club of Dominica proudly announces the installation of its new executive team at the 50th Investiture Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history. With the theme ‘The Magic of Rotary,’ the new leadership is poised to reinvigorate the club’s commitment to community service, fellowship, and impactful projects.

Newly elected President Luana Laurent delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the transformative power of service. “Our story is one of adaptability, dedication, and hope. Let us share it with pride. Use every opportunity to talk about the impactful projects we’ve undertaken, the lives we’ve touched, and the change we’ve brought about. By sharing our news, we not only celebrate our achievements but also inspire others to join our cause.”

The club remains unwavering in its commitment to existing projects such as the VOSH Eye Care Mission and Community Health Care Missions, Luncheon at the Grotto Home for the Aged, Infirmary Christmas Breakfast, Secondary School Quiz Competition and Interact Club Forum. Other ongoing projects include enhancement at the Acute Psychiatric Unit and community assistance. The club also aims to develop new, sustainable, and impactful initiatives that align with Rotary District 7030’s focus areas of enhancing participant engagement, increasing club impact, increasing club ability to adapt, and expanding the club’s reach.

A collaboration with the President’s Charity Foundation to host a Summer Fun Day Camp, Restoration of the Bay Oil Distilleries in the south-east, and a $10,000 commitment to assist with the rebuilding of the Girl Guides Headquarters and more are all plans for the new year. As part of our education and youth focus, we aim to create a new Interact club at the Dominica State College.

The new executive comprises President Luana Laurent, Vice President Cecil Shillingford, Secretary Shanda Carbon Jacob, Treasurer Galeine Gordon-Seraphine, Sergeant At Arms Annie Edwards, Immediate Past President Nigel Shillingford, President-Elect PHF Dr. Jermaine Jean-Pierre and six (6) directors, namely PP Aylmer Irish, PAG PHF Dennis Chong, PHF Jasmine Timothy, PP PHF Grayson Stedman Jr., PP PHF Dr. Becky Jno Baptiste, Kayan Toussaint and Olive Strachan.
