The Entrepreneurs’ Forum – A Success

The first session of the bimonthly event – “The Entrepreneurs’ Forum” – was deemed a success. The assembling, which took place this past Tuesday, February 19th, was held at the Prevost Cinemall and is the initiative of Royal Globe Inc., a company that is quickly becoming a household name in Dominica.

The session focused on the process of starting a business with a focus on legal knowledge. The topic “Evaluating and Developing your Business,” was presented by Ms. Naomi Romain, Business Support Services Coordinator at NDFD, “Business Legalities and Paperwork,” was presented by Mr. Ronald Charles, Attorney at Law, and Ms. Athlyne Nesty, The Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Properties office presented on “Company Registration vs. Business Name Registration,”

Founder of the company, Avena Prince, says she was happy for the turnout at the first forum and looks forward to seeing more people at future forums as the purpose is to empower practicing and aspiring entrepreneurs by providing information on topics relevant to them. “The Entrepreneurs’ Forum will improve the quality of businesses in Dominica by educating the owners and future owners of businesses. It will create a platform for information of opportunities in Dominica and other parts of the world for entrepreneurs can flow and will connect companies with organizations that can support their ventures.’ She says Royal Globe Inc. is an education and garment manufacturing company which offers training in vocational skills and operates a garment brand ‘Vee’s Couture.’ In addition to providing high quality and locally designed and fabricated garments, the organization aims to help persons to become self-employed and self-sufficient and thereby to increase their income by teaching them skills which are quick to learn and easy to master.

The organisation is also concerned with motivating entrepreneurs and in August 2018 conducted an entrepreneurship workshop dubbed ‘Going Global with My Business – A Changed Mindset’ as part of a Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Reverse Exchange Project proposed by the Royal Globe Inc. founder. The project was funded by The U.S Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs via Meridian International Center as the implementing partner. Local organizations Dominica Youth Business Trust and The National Development Foundation partnered with Royal Globe Inc. to host the event. This workshop was the platform for The Entrepreneurs’ Forum.
