The African Union adopted a resolution against the blockade of Cuba

At the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), the heads of State and Government adopted a resolution condemning -for the sixteenth consecutive time- the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, a cruel policy that has harmed the people of the island for more than six decades.

The text also includes, for the second time, the request to remove Cuba from the arbitrary unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

Furthermore, it expresses deep concern over the extension of the extraterritorial nature of the blockade, including the application of Title III of the Helms Burton Act.

It recognizes the negative impact of such measures, even more cruel in the current context, when the archipelago is facing the economic and social effects of several very severe natural phenomena that have hit the country.
