The Division of Forestry held a seminar on the Cuban Tree Frog on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 at the Credit Union Conference Hall in Portsmouth. The Cuban Tree Frog is the largest tree frog in North America and is native to Cuba.
It secretes toxic mucus which can irritate your eyes and nose; cause allergic reactions and trigger asthma attacks. It arrived by accident and is considered a pest. The frog carries the Chytrid fungus which can kill the Mountain Chicken frog. The session was to educate and inform residents about the Frog and its dangers.
Anyone who has seen the frog can call the Forestry Division at 266-5853 and 265-5856 or email them at [email protected]
