The Rotary Club of Portsmouth, in collaboration with Republic Bank (EC) Limited Dominica, is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the “Beekeeping Training and Support Project.” This initiative aimed to empower local beekeepers in Dominica by providing them with essential training and resources to enhance their beekeeping practices. It was made possible through the generosity of Republic Bank (EC) Limited, as part of its Power to Make a Difference Programme.
Under this joint venture, the Rotary Club of Portsmouth and Republic Bank EC Limited Dominica recognized the importance of supporting the agricultural sector in Dominica and the significant role that beekeeping plays in the local economy. Through this project, beekeepers across the island were equipped with the necessary skills and tools to thrive in their beekeeping endeavors.
One of the key aspects of the project was the training provided to the beekeepers in building frames, an essential component in maintaining beehives. Nineteen (19) participants received comprehensive training sessions, where they learned about the construction, maintenance, and utilization of frames to enhance their beekeeping operations. This training will enable them to optimize honey production and ensure the well-being of their bee colonies.
The collaboration between the Rotary Club of Portsmouth and Republic Bank (EC) Limited Dominica highlights their commitment to sustainable development and the empowerment of local communities. By supporting the beekeeping industry, this project aims to foster economic growth, promote environmental conservation, and create opportunities for the beekeepers to improve their livelihoods.
