Rianna Patterson, the founder of the Dominica Dementia Foundation, directed a documentary titled “Dementia: The Island Journey”. This production aims to tackle ageism in the media by celebrating Caribbean elders, sharing new perspectives, and providing holistic approaches to dementia. Contributing island voices include Dominica, Barbados and Anguilla.
The documentary has been selected for the Timehri Film Festival in Guyana, as well as the 1261 Film Festival in Grenada.
The Timehri Film Festival features an online screening option, everyone will have an opportunity to view this documentary from 30th of October- Nov 3rd on their website.
1261 Film Festival is a thriving platform that celebrates the diversity of cultures through film and storytelling. As it enters its 5th season, the festival has established itself as a vital force in strengthening the Grenadian Film and Creative community. The platform fosters resource sharing, education, and artistic collaboration, allowing creatives to showcase their work and connect with like-minded individuals.
The documentary has been submitted to film festivals across the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the US.
