The Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) has opened registration for carnival bands and others who plan to take part in its various competitions for the 2020 Mas Domnik Season with announcements on radio and on its various social media platforms, as Dominica prepares to celebrate its 2020 carnival season from January 18th to February 26th 2020.
The DFC announced the opening of registration soon after the Christmas season and continues to appeal to those wishing to participate in the National Parade and Official Opening of Mas Domnik 2020, scheduled for Saturday 18th January 2020. Registration forms are available on its dominicafestival.com website and at the DFC Office at the Marpin Building in Roseau. Registration is open to groups, gangs, event organizers, traditional mas group, commercial floats and individuals interested in participating and showcasing Dominica’s unique carnival art forms at the Opening Parade.
The DFC is also announcing the continuation of registration for the various J’ouvert competitions, and the Monday and Tuesday Parades for bands, gangs and individual competitors. For J’ouvert, registration is open for revelers who wish to showcase their special J’ouvert outfits either as groups/gangs or individuals. Traditional groups are also urged to participate in the early morning J’ouvert display. For the Carnival Monday Parade of Bands on February 24th, forms are available for registration for T-Shirt Bands, Schools/junior bands, individual masqueraders, commercial floats and traditional masquerade troupes. Registration is also open for participation in the Carnival Tuesday Parade of Bands on February 25th, for traditional and contemporary costume bands.
Registration forms and competition rules can be collected at the DFC office at the Marpin Building on Great Marlborough Street, Roseau, between 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Registration for the Opening Parade closes on January 14, 2020, while those for J’ouvert and the Monday and Tuesday Parades close on February 19, 2020. Potential participants can also register online via the DFC website at dominicafestival.com.
