PWA Responds to Ministry of National Security

The Police Welfare Association has been lobbying for better conditions in the police force including dealing with ‘rat infestation’ at the Traffic Department.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Joanne Commodore responded saying that after investigations were done, “no droppings or evidence of rodents was seen”. She expressed her dissatisfaction with the PWA going to the media instead of coming to the ministry.

However, Jefferson Drigo, Chairman of the PWA, has called for the ministry to take the matter of ‘rat infestation’ seriously. Drigo said, “The Police Welfare Association reiterates its call for that matter to be handled properly and effectively by the appropriate and competent health authorities,”. Drigo made the comments at a press briefing on Thursday.
