PRIME MINISTER ROOSEVELT SKERRIT ADDRESSES VIELLE CASE COUNCIL, MAKES SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

LAST WEEK, THE 29TH INAUGURATION OF THE VIEILLE CASE VILLAGE COUNCIL WAS HELD, WITH 6 NEW MEMBERS: CURDESH WILLIAMS, JANELLE BRUMANT, JOSEPH LEBLANC, HEIDA DIDIER, SHERMA FRANCIS-LEE AND CHRISTOPHER ELIZEE BEING INAUGURATED. 

MORE THAN EIGHT DECADES AGO, THE TOWN OF VIEILLE CASE WAS THE FIRST TO ESTABLISH A COMMUNITY BOARD, THE PRECURSOR TO THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF DOMINICA.

YOLAND JNO JULES WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE LONGEST SERVING COUNCIL MEMBER IN DOMINICA’S HISTORY, HAVING BEEN FIRST INAUGURATED IN 1974 AND SERVING FOR 47 YEARS.

VALENTINE JOSEPH WAS ELECTED TO CONTINUE AS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL, WITH A PROMISE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE OF VIEILLE CASE AND DOMINICA BY EXTENSION. 

“VILLAGERS, MY RECORD EXEMPLIFIES, PASSIONATE, SELF DRIVEN ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US; I AM ELECTED AGAIN AS CHAIRMAN, THEREFORE I WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE VOICE OF MY PEOPLE, AND THE COUNTRY BY EXTENSION. AND I CAN TELL YOU, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.” CHAIRMAN VALENTINE JOSEPH. 

THE HON. PRIME MINISTER ROOSEVELT SKERRIT ALSO SPOKE AT THE MEETING, ADVOCATING FOR BETTER HEALTH AND WELLNESS AMONG DOMINICANS, PARTICULARLY THROUGH BACKYARD GARDENING, AND DECLARED THAT HUMAN DEVELOPMENT WILL BE A PRIORITY IN THE VIEILLE CASE CONSTITUENCY.

MR. SKERRIT ALSO REVEALED HIS INTENTION TO TAKE OVER THE FINANCES OF THE SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMS: “BUT UNDER ONE CONDITION, THAT THE MEALS THAT THEY PREPARE FOR THE STUDENTS, WILL HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY A NUTRITIONIST, AND THEY MUST FOLLOW THAT MEAL PLAN.” THE HON PRIME MINISTER ROOSEVELT SKERRIT.
