The Ministry of Agriculture has appointed eight pesticide control officers to fulfill the mandate of the pesticide Control Act #15 of 1974.
Among things, the inspectors are expected to conduct inspection of land holdings and premises as well as detain and seize any articles which violate provisions or regulations of the Act.
Chief Pesticide Inspector Joseph Blanford is happy for the new additions as he was solely responsible to administer the requirements of the Act.
He says that the inspectors will play a key role in assisting in effectively managing pesticides in Dominica. They will also he involved in training pesticide users on best practices.
The eight recently appointed inspectors are Jason Bruno, Stanton Guiste, Keston Williams, Lymbert Smith, Egbert Nelson, Asher Burton, Hilroy Williams Isabella John.
