One more confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in Dominica

 

National Epidemiologist , Dr. Shalauddin Ahmed confirmed at a press conference moments ago that  a 70 year old  is now hospitalized and  tested positive with COVID-19. This brings the  total number of cases in Dominica to twelve.

According to Dr. Ahmed, ‘the patients are clinically stabled.’  He went on to say that, ‘a total of 37 contact were traced from these three index cases. Of  these 17 were tested,9 are positive and 8 are  negative and there are 20 pending contacts. The 9 positive contacts   are admitted at the Covid complex and they are doing fine.  Of those 9 confirmed contacts we have traced 29 contacts and 24 of  them were all  tested and are all negative. Nonetheless all the negative contacts  are in home quarantine for 14 days.’

To date  185 test were completed and 173 are negative with the use of in country ‘PCR’ test.

He encouraged all Dominicans to practice social distancing,  frequent hand washing, maintain  respiratory etiquette and to stay at home if you have no business being out.

No deaths have been reported due to Covid-19 in Dominica.
