New Water Supply for Residents of Bagatelle and Surroundings

Roughly 400 residents of the Bagatelle and surrounding communities are now the beneficiaries of a new water supply. The Bagatelle Alternate Water and Harvesting and Storage Project which was launched yesterday February 20, includes three 1000 gallon water tanks. The Project is funded by the Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Project (JCCCP) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program and the Local Government Department.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Parliamentary Representative Kenneth Darroux said that the residents of these villages will have an alternate water supply in times of natural disasters, and he considered the project to be a timely one. Minister for Climate Resilience and Disaster Management Joseph Isaac, also spoke and stated that the Parish of St. Patrick is the most vulnerable to disasters, thereby making the project one of significant importance.

The project cost was in the range of $62,000.
