Roseau, Dominica – December 21 ,2022 – The MV Silver Dawn is scheduled to make its inaugural call to Dominica on Thursday, December 22, 2022. The ship is scheduled to call in at the Woodbridge Bay Port and will make a total of four (4) calls to the island for the cruise season. MV Silver Dawn arrival is the fifth of nine inaugural calls for the 2022/2023 cruise season. To commemorate the ship’s call to Dominica, a plaque exchange ceremony will be held between government officials and the ship’s captain. The ship sails to Dominica from St. Kitts and will sail from Dominica to Antigua.
Silver Dawn is a new cruise ship constructed by Fincantieri for Silversea Cruises; a luxury cruise line owned by global cruise company Royal Caribbean Group. The vessel is the sister ship to Sliver Moon which made its inaugural call to Dominica on December 2nd ,2022. It retains the
best characteristics of its predecessors while offering unique features. With a total of 11 decks, the vessel can accommodate 596 guests served by a crew of 411.
As of December 9th, 2022, Dominica has received a total of thirty-one (31) cruise calls.Together, the ships brought in 41,064 cruise passengers with 29,643 passengers disembarking and 18,266 engaging in tours. A total of 196 calls are projected for the 2022/2023 cruise season.
These calls translate to314,938 cruise passengers, compared to 189,334 passengers and 143 calls in the2019/2020 season. This signals a productive and profitable season for tourism and
hospitality stakeholders who are heavily reliant on cruise sector activity.
The Government of Dominica will continue its effort in the development and promotion of Dominica as a desirable cruise destination.
