The Ministry of Health continues to successfully guard Dominica’s borders since giving the green light for persons and visit to return home.
On July 15, Dominica’s borders were opened to allow citizens stuck overseas to return home. On August 7, the country’s borders were opened to visitors.
Since then the Ministry has been able to successfully keep the COVID-19 cases at 18, which indicates that no new cases have emerged.
Dr. Shaluddin Ahmed indicated at a press conference on Monday that while two persons tested positive on Rapid Antibody Testing, they subsequently tested negative using PCR Method and have been placed on home quarantine. The two individuals are returning citizens who presented negative PCR tests as well as their online questionnaire prior to arrival. Further, they had no clinical symptoms or an elevated temperature.
Dr. Ahmed reiterated that according to protocol, one must present a negative PCR test done within 3 days of arrival in Dominica and an approval notice obtained after successfully completing the online questionnaire.
Visitors may be disapproved if the PCR test results are not uploaded, if the results are outdated or if no PCR test was done. Also, if the PCR test results are positive or if there are clinical symptoms of COVID-19.
Dominica remains on watch as persons are encouraged to keep wearing masks.
