DLP candidate for the Roseau Central Constituency, Melissa Skerrit, was part of a handing over ceremony to make a donation to the fisherfolk.

She says, “Dominica’s fishing industry is growing rapidly, and with four world-class resorts being constructed on our shores, the time is ripe for our fisherfolk to get as much support as possible so that they can supply the increasing demand and provide for themselves and their families”.

She continued, “It was an honour to partner with my dear friend Ian George, the developer for Tranquility Beach Hotel, in donating fishing supplies and safety gear to some of the fisherfolk from my constituency”.

Further, she said, “The handing over ceremony this afternoon was two-fold, as the Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, also gifted three new boats and engines as part of its initiative to ensuring that our fisherfolk have every tool needed to rise to the next level”.
