The Commonwealth of Dominica has recorded its highest number of cases since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this, the Government of Dominica has initiated the following response.
According to Health Minister, Hon. Irving McIntyre, the Cabinet has taken a decision to make the wearing of face masks or face coverings in public places mandatory. The legislation granting statutory authority for mandatory face coverings will be enacted soon.
Meanwhile, Education Minister, Hon. Octavia Alfred has confirmed that the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School will be closed for a week as a result of an occurrence of COVID-19. 98 contacts have already been swabbed.
The Government is also advising that all festive events be postponed.
