Christmas reminds us of the importance of giving back and bringing joy to those in need without expecting anything in return. The year would not be the same if the Lions Club of Dominica did not execute its annual Christmas children’s activity. On Wednesday 22nd December 2021, the Education & Youth Committee prepared gift bags for seventeen (17) young people, 12 females and 5 males ages 8-18 of the Achievement Learning Center.
The gift bags contained personalized Christmas cards made by a few cubs from the club, special gifts, goodies sponsored by Fine Foods Inc and masks and sanitizer. The Achievement Learning Center is a legally registered institution; its mission is “to provide high-quality education and training while creating a nurturing and supportive community of learners in a stimulating learning environment”.
Due to the COVID pandemic, the club members were not able to engage with the young people, however the Director, Mrs. Beverly LeBlanc hand delivered the packages to each of the young people who were overjoyed and very grateful for this thoughtful gesture from the Lions Club.
As 2021 comes to an end, the club wishes to express gratitude to all its stakeholders, particular thanks to Fine Foods Inc, the general public and the Club members for their donations towards this activity. The Lions Club of Dominica is a non-profit organization that is dependent on the sponsorship by others to execute its activities.
