Savahnn James who is sponsored by the National Bank of Dominica and Greens Wholesale was officially launched on Sunday. James says that she represents the true essence of Roseau, the city responsible for her upbringing and love of culture. James is a former competitor of the Junior Monarch Calypso Competition who performed under the stage name ‘Junior Star’. She also finished as 2nd runner up in the Carnival Princess show when she competed representing the Convent Preparatory.

James said that she desires to further her education and return to contribute meaningfully to her country. She is grateful that the winner of the pageant is awarded a scholarship.
In relation to her platform, she explained, “I selected my platform sustainable living through renewable energy because of my passion for taking care of the environment. I believe that we are stewards of the Earth and it is our responsibility to preserve it. We feel the effects of Climate Change here in Dominica and we have the resources to combat these changes and safeguard ourselves. Using renewable energy is one way that Dominica can become self sufficient and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
James said that this is more than just a platform as she plans to further her education in environmental engineering. She plans to continue to push her platform well beyond the Miss Dominica Pageant.
