Joint Mission from OAS and CARICOM Expected in Dominica

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Francine Baron says that a joint mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Commonwealth and the Caribbean Community or Caribbean Common Market (CARICOM) is expected in Dominica this week to meet with stakeholders to discuss the country’s electoral reform process.

Baron who made the announcement during the budget debate in Parliament appealed to all concerned to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with the mission team.

She said, “While the opposition have been riling people up and encouraging them to protest and cause trouble when elections are called, this Government has been bringing the facts to the people. We have invited a joint mission from the OAS, Commonwealth, and CARICOM to meet with stakeholders to discuss this electoral reform issue and all of those that claim that they are interested in that issue, I hope that they will take advantage of the fact that these people will be here to have a discussion  with them…and even that the opposition are against.”

She went on to say that the opposition is trying to convince the people that the Government  is doing something wrong. Whereas the government has nothing to hide and is absolutely convinced that they are doing the right thing and taking the right steps, being responsible and acting within the law.
