Invitation to Join WAVE’s Campaign for World Rivers Day 2024!

In exactly one week, on September 22nd, 2024, Dominica will join the global celebration of the 29th anniversary of World Rivers Day under the theme: “Waterways for a Sustainable Future.”

To mark this important occasion, WAVE (Waitikubuli Advocates for Viable Environment) invites you to participate in our campaign with two key objectives:

1. Celebrate and Preserve Our Rivers: Show love and appreciation for Dominica’s 365 rivers by organizing one of the activities listed in our flyer.

2. Reflect on the State of Our Rivers: Our rivers provide us with recreation, hydroelectric power, water, and food. But, how are they doing today?

Are they vibrant and full of life?

Are they overgrown with invasive species?

Are they littered with garbage?

Or, like the Crapaud Hall River at Pagua, have they been reduced to a trickle, filled with silt?

If these questions resonate with you, it’s time to act! Join us in saying “enough is enough.” Take action in your community by planting trees, educating the public, or engaging with youth and schools. Together, we can foster a culture of river protection.

This campaign continues until March 14th, 2025, culminating in the celebration of International Day of Action for Rivers. There is plenty of time to get involved and make a difference.

How to Participate:

Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can help.
