20 year old Elnarrah Emmanuel of Kingshill is one of the contestants in the Miss Dominica Carnival Queen Pageant 2020. She says, “I am symbolic of strength and courage the effigy of a proud black woman”.
Emmanuel was officially launched on Saturday 4 December at the Newton Savannah.’
Elnarrah has decided to tackle the issue of depression during her campaign for the crown.
Emmanuel says, “Depression is real and many facades endeavour to jester its reality’. She says that many persons suffer in silence and do not know how to get over this disease. She chose an outfit of multiple vigorous colors to showcase true happiness.
“Today, I rise, I rise to the occasion to stop the devil in the lives of young people who are living with regret, guilt and indignity. I rise for you and everyone else like you who needs to overcome depression.”
Emmanuel says that this issue is close to her heart as she watched her significant other spiral into depression after a vehicular accident.
Elnarrah is the founder of Pashiwok Dance Academy and the winner of the first ever ‘Dominica Can Dance’ competition. She desires to be an orthodontist in the future.
