Heritage day which is celebrated during the Independence festivities was held at Grandfond on Sunday 20, September.

The day began with a creole mass at the Roman Catholic Church and culminated with cultural performances in the village. There was also an exhibition at the primary school.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the honoring of Mrs. Melanie Lockhart as Cultural Elder. Heritage Day usually begins what is known as creole week.
