The Vieille Case Parish in collaboration with The Local Good News Team is presently observing on the island 25 years of service of the USA Good News Project Inc. This coincides with the 25th annual visit of the volunteers who are presently on island building homes for persons in need.
One of the highlights of the anniversary is the recognition of Grace Muella one of the volunteers who have been on all of the trips over the 25 year period in Dominica and 36 years in the west Indies. Grace lead the 2019 overseas team of 8 volunteers in the Castle Bruce Parish building two houses and other services rendered by her group.
They depart today Friday 25 January, at the same time, another 9 volunteers led by Duane Bried will arrive on island to volunteer in the Vieille Case Parish. The volunteers will attend a Thanksgiving Mass in their honor followed by a welcome reception on Sunday, January 27th at the Vieille Case Catholic Church.
The team during their two weeks stay in Vieille Case will build 1 house each in Penville, Paix Bouche and Bense, visit schools (including CALLS Portsmouth) and house recipients within the District.
The Good News Project Inc. has its head Quarters in Wausau Wisconsin and was founded in St. Lucia 36 years ago by Dr. Charles and Peggy Mac. Carthy in the USA. It was introduced to Dominica in 1994 by Rev. Fr. Christian Pinneau then Parish Priest of Vieille Case.
The mission includes building houses, providing supplies to school and Health Care Institutions and support to Social groups like the Northern District Progressive Women’s Club and families in need.
