Hon. Gertrude Roberts, former parliamentary representative for the Morne Jaune/ Riviere Cyrique constituency has died.

Roberts served as Minister of Community Development, Culture and Women’s Affairs under the 1995 UWP Government. She was born in Delices and worked as a teacher and principal for many years.

Roberts was the recipient of a National Service Award in 1973. In 1979, she was instrumental in forming the Pickaxe Brigade to help in the rebuilding process following the devastation of Hurricane David.

Gertrude Roberts was a true patriotic Dominican who served selflessly, not for profit or gain. May her soul rest in peace.
