The Feast of St.Peters was celebrated in the southern villages of Soufriere/ Scottshead over the weekend. During the celebratory mass, a number of fisherfolks were recognized for their service in keeping the industry alive.
From the village of Soufriere, Festus Thomas (Oldest Active Fisherman), Delbert Xavier (Biggest Catch of the Season) and Dorothy Thomas (Longest Serving Fish Vendor) were all given awards. The awards for Scottshead went to Bernard Francis (Oldest Active Fisherman) and Eustache Johnson (Biggest Catch of the Season).
The Feast of St. Peters is also known as the Fisherman’s Feast.
