DOWASCO has partnered with the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) Project, to undertake the Paix Bouche Water Enhancement Project.
The project seeks to improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the Paix-Bouche Water System by increasing the level of water storage and extending the distribution network in the Moore Park.
Work is underway for a new 60,000-gallon storage tank in Moore Park which will result in an increase in the overall storage capacity for Paix-Bouche and neighbouring communities by four times. This will allow the communities to have much more emergency storage capacity and reduce the frequency and length of water service interruptions. The location of the new tank will also allow for more housing development for Paix-Bouche.
As part of the project, the existing intake on Grand Riviere will be upgraded, which will enhance the quality of water reaching the storage tanks, especially during rainfall when the silt level in the river increases. The access road to the intake will also be improved by the installation of concrete surfacing at certain sections. This will allow for easier maintenance of the intake as well as the water treatment system, located near the intake.
The existing pumps in Paix-Bouche will also be upgraded to have more capacity to transfer water to the new storage tank.
As part of the project, new supply and distribution pipelines will also be installed in the upper part of the village to connect to the new tank.
The project will be executed at a total cost of approximately EC$1.9m. DOWASCO has sub-contracted George Trucking and Excavating Services to undertake the works.
Works commenced early in September and the project is expected to take approximately eight months to complete. DOWASCO would like to take this opportunity to implore residents, road users, farmers, and other stakeholders in the Paix-Bouche and Moore Park areas for your patience, cooperation, and support, while we undertake this much-needed water project for the benefit of our customers.
