On November 3, at the Parade of Uniformed Groups, deserving individuals and institutions were awarded for service to our nation.
The Sisserou Award of Honor was awarded to Antigua Broadcasting Service (ABS Radio) for its service to Dominica in mass communication. ABS Radio was instrumental in informing the world about Dominica’s situation after Hurricane David in 1979 and Hurricane Maria in 2017. The award was received by General Manager of ABS Radio, Erna-Mae Brathwaite.
Dominica Broadcasting Service (DBS Radio) formerly known as Radio Dominica and before that as West Indies Broadcasting Service (WIBS) also received the Sisserou Award of Honor for faithfully disseminating information and promoting local culture. The award was received by General Manager, Cecil Joseph, and Program Director, Ivona Jno. Baptiste Lugay.
His Excellency Matthew Walter, Dominica’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba and former Government Minister and Principal, also received the Sisserou Award of Honor for outstanding leadership in his community and nation.
The Meritorious Service Award was awarded to:
- Samuel Raphael – owner of Jungle Bay Resort and Spa and Hummingbird Air- for his passion for sustainable development in Tourism and Business.

- Dr. Jennifer Elwin- Health medicine

- Shane Marshall- Sports
The Services Medal of Honor was presented to Teacher Vilna Royer, Steven Dangleben (Broadcasting) and Peterson Sabaroche (Health), while the Long Service Medal was awarded to Teacher Starry Williams, Nurse Missie Catherine Lander and Mrs. Nellie Fabien- Joseph.
