Dominica Water and Sewage Company Receives Donation

Dominica Water and Sewage Company Ltd (Dowasco) has received a donation of two water tankers from the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The tankers cost US$400,000 and will be used to deliver water to villages all over Dominica. The donation is in keeping with UNICEF’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens of Dominica.

The handing over ceremony was held at DOWASCO’s compound in Goodwill. Remarks were given by Mr. Louis Patrick Hill, chairman of DOWASCO’s Board of Directors, Honourable Kenneth Darroux, Minister of Health and Social Services and Dr. Aloys karmuragiye, UNICEF’s representative for the Eastern Caribbean, while the 2019 Junior Calypso Monarch, Malik “De Examiner” Darroux performed his winning song ‘An Example’.

Honorable Joseph Isaac delivered an address in which he reiterated the government’s commitment to reduce vulnerability in times of disaster and sees the donation of these trucks as doing just that.
