Dominica’s Prime Minister, Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, made significant announcements at the Thea Lafond Celebration Concert in honor of Thea Lafond-Gadson, who recently won an Olympic gold medal in triple jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics During the event, several prestigious gifts were presented to Thea Lafond-Gadson, highlighting her remarkable achievement and contribution to sports in Dominica.

The awards include:

– $400,000 Eastern Caribbean currency
– Appointment as a Sports Ambassador for Dominica.
– A 7,459 sqft piece of land at Warner.
– A diplomatic passport for both her and her husband.
– Dominica’s Highest Award to be presented at Independence 2024.
– A track and field facility to be named after her Thea Lafond- Gadson
